Privacy Policy for CaptureCord

CaptureCord is designed with privacy in mind. It transfers photographs directly from compatible cameras to a folder selected by you on your Mac or network storage.
CaptureCord does not require a CaptureCord account, does not use advertising or tracking, and does not upload your photographs to CaptureCord-operated servers.

2. Photographs and transferred files
CaptureCord accesses photographs and related media files on compatible cameras for the purpose of transferring them to a destination selected by you.
Transfers take place directly between your camera, your Mac and, where applicable, storage selected by you, such as a network-attached storage device.
CaptureCord does not upload your photographs or transferred files to servers operated by CaptureCord.
CaptureCord does not use your photographs for analytics, advertising, profiling, artificial intelligence training or any other secondary purpose.
Original files remain on your camera. CaptureCord does not delete photographs from the camera after transfer.
3. Information stored locally on your Mac
To provide its functionality, CaptureCord may store information locally on your Mac, including:
configured cameras and camera connection settings;
selected destination locations;
transfer history and transfer status;
filenames and file-related metadata required to manage transfers;
information required to identify previously processed files and avoid unintended duplicate transfers;
application settings; and
diagnostic and log information used for troubleshooting and reliable operation.
This information is used to operate CaptureCord and is not automatically transmitted to CaptureCord.
Where credentials or other sensitive connection information must be stored, CaptureCord uses appropriate macOS facilities such as Keychain where applicable.
Removing CaptureCord does not automatically remove photographs that have already been transferred to destinations selected by you.
4. Camera and local network communication
CaptureCord communicates with compatible cameras using network and wireless technologies supported by the camera and macOS. Depending on the camera, this may involve Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and manufacturer-provided camera communication technologies.
CaptureCord may also communicate with local or network storage selected by you when transferring photographs.
These communications are necessary to provide CaptureCord’s core functionality. CaptureCord does not route your photographs through CaptureCord-operated cloud servers.
Communication with cameras and storage devices may involve technologies, software or services provided by the respective camera, computer, network or storage manufacturer. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
5. Analytics, tracking and advertising
CaptureCord does not include advertising.
CaptureCord does not track you across apps or websites.
CaptureCord does not use third-party advertising SDKs.
CaptureCord does not use analytics or telemetry to automatically send information about your use of the application to CaptureCord.
No compatibility or diagnostic information is automatically sent to CaptureCord.
6. Purchases through the Mac App Store
CaptureCord may offer purchases through Apple’s Mac App Store.
Purchases and payment processing are handled by Apple. CaptureCord does not receive or store your payment-card details.
Apple may process information relating to your purchase according to Apple’s own privacy policy and applicable App Store terms.
CaptureCord receives only the information made available through Apple’s purchase system that is necessary to determine whether relevant CaptureCord functionality has been purchased or restored.
7. Support communications
If you contact CaptureCord support by email, telephone or another support channel, the information you choose to provide may include personal data such as your name, email address, telephone number, message content and technical information you provide for troubleshooting.
This information is used only as necessary to respond to your request, provide support, maintain appropriate business records, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Please do not send photographs or other personal or confidential files to CaptureCord support unless they are specifically necessary for resolving your support request.
8. Legal basis for processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar data-protection law applies, personal data provided in connection with support, purchases or other direct interactions may be processed where necessary:
to provide requested services or take steps at your request;
to comply with legal obligations;
on the basis of legitimate interests in providing, securing, supporting and improving CaptureCord and responding to enquiries; or
on the basis of your consent where consent is specifically requested.
Most information processed by the CaptureCord application itself remains locally on your Mac or within devices and storage under your control and is not received by CaptureCord.
9. Sharing of personal data
CaptureCord does not sell personal data.
CaptureCord does not share personal data for advertising or tracking purposes.
Personal data provided directly to CaptureCord may be processed by service providers where reasonably necessary to operate the website, email, support or other business infrastructure. Such providers process information subject to their applicable contractual and legal obligations.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
10. Data retention
Information stored locally by the CaptureCord application remains under your control and may remain on your Mac until it is removed through the application, by deleting its application data, or through macOS as applicable.
Personal data received directly by CaptureCord, for example through a support request, is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was received and for any applicable legal, accounting or record-keeping requirements.
CaptureCord does not retain server-side copies of photographs transferred by the application because those photographs are not uploaded to CaptureCord-operated servers.
11. Your rights
Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights concerning personal data processed by CaptureCord, including the rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, as well as restriction of processing, data portability and objection to certain processing where applicable.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

12. Children’s privacy
CaptureCord is a general-purpose camera transfer utility and is not specifically directed at children. CaptureCord does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the application.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when CaptureCord’s functionality, legal requirements or data-handling practices change.
